Customizable Planner and Tips on How To Do It
Hi everyone, hope it is still not too late to wish everyone a very Happy New Year!
Today I’m gonna share with you my new finding, a customizable planner made locally here in Malaysia AND they do ship worldwide! You see, I love planning things. Following them is another different story. LOL. My brain works better when I see things planned and organized thus I have lists everywhere. On my table, my computer monitor, by my bedside, on the bathroom mirror. You name it, it is everywhere.
So having a well-organized planner is crucial to me. I’ve tried multiple planners, generic ones, DIY ones, yet I’ve still haven’t found the one that fits my needs. This year I am determined to use my planner till the year ends which I have yet to succeed in previous years. This happens probably because by mid-year I’d realize that it didn’t cater to my everyday needs and purpose.
While browsing through Instagram the other day, I stumbled across this page called Ana Tomy. At first, it looked like any other shop selling your usual generic planners but way prettier and aesthetic looking. Then I notice that they provide customization, from how you want your planner cover to look like to the insert pages you desire. This is exactly what I wanted as this year I’ve got a few projects in mind that I need to accomplish thus I need a more structural planner, so to speak.
To customize your own planner is so easy. They provide simple steps on how to do it on their website and it is not complicated at all. For me, I already know what I had in mind hence all I needed to do was choose the cover, what kind of inserts I want and that’s it.
I ended up choosing the Classic Series; Lilac-A5s Wirebound in Clothbound (they have Leatherbound as well) where it has my desired inserts. The total pages allowed in this Wirebound is up to 180 pages, with each insert having a different set of pages in total.
As I mentioned earlier, I’ve projects lined up thus I needed an insert where I can clearly list down my projects and tasks to be completed. Ana tomy has the perfect insert and it’s called To-Do List. They even have priority boxes where you can categorize your tasks to their importance.
The next thing I needed was a timed breakdown of what I’ve plan to do each day. Previously, I’ve tried using the weekly method which is 7 days a week on one page but without the time slots. This time I wanted to try a daily page with time slots so that I am able to jot down what I have to do according to the time. Since having my daughter I realized that having a timely schedule works better for me, for instance, I can roughly plan out my day when I can do my work while she naps as she sort of have the same nap schedule every day. Even when this schedule of hers will change eventually, the time slot daily inserts will remain helpful as I can still sort out my day.
Their weekly insert is called the 53 Undated Planner and they have 2 options to choose from; either Horizontal or Vertical. The Horizontal has no time slots unlike the Vertical version, which I have in my planner, and the time slots start from 6 am to 12 midnight.
The next insert that’s important to me is the note section. I need somewhere to jot down random notes and thoughts which occur pretty much 24/7 thus having somewhere to scribble in my planner is necessary. I used to carry a separate notebook just for meeting notes/random scribbles but I found it such a hassle to be carrying my planner and a notebook everywhere which I ended up stopping using my planner and utilizing my notebook instead. Ana tomy has a few selections (dotted, grid, half plain half grid) for the notes section, I chose the Plain pages.
Apart from choosing your desired cover, customizing your inserts, and adding on monogram onto the cover, you also have these options to choose from:-
- The color of the elastic band;
- The color of the ribbon marker;
- The color of the binding markers; and
- The text color of your monogram
These options are for the Wirebound. Trio Book (from the Classic Series) and Binder Series (which basically is a leather binder) have different options.
If you are still uncertain about what inserts will suit your lifestyle, here are a few tips:-
- List down what/how your every day will look like.
- For example, do you have important events/appointments/meetings on a daily basis? Then a weekly, timed insert could be helpful. Or do you need a monthly spread to have a clearer picture in what’s happening in that month? Preferably, a monthly insert will suffice.
- Do you wanna track your daily habits, medication, fitness etc? Then a tracker habit insert will definitely help.
- You need tons of space to scribble meeting notes/random thoughts/groceries list etc, the notes section will come handy.
- Having a separate to-do list is crucial? Go for the task list insert, it will help you to see better on what needs to be done and when it has to be completed.
Having an organized planner definitely helps me in sorting my
haywire life better. I am able to manage my time well by having this one-stop notebook.
On that note, I hope this post did help you out whether you’re new to this whole planner journey or a seasoned planner. Do let me know in the comments if you have tried ana tomy and which inserts are your favs or any other planners/organizers that have worked for you.
Till then, let’s make 2022 a remarkable year!
